Facing Jinx - "Ready" / "I Know" - PPRDINTL004
A - Ready - PPRDINTL004
Continuing to drop serious heat during the summer months, Peer Pressure Digital’s Intl department has snapped up two scorchers from Facing Jinx. Building on some floating atmosphere and a classic break, “Ready” is bound to be the intro to your backyard feasts! Leading into the moving drop, the track lets you teases us with the driving force in this tune: a slow, moody piano loop that, once dropped atop the break and a funky, muted bass, works wonders and begs you to move!
B - I Know - PPRDINTL004
On “I Know”, a seductive set of vocal samples sex up the infectious stabs atop an understated sub. This is one of those deeper cuts, something that will breeze easily into the mix, and you won’t even notice how fresh it is until its halfway through, making you wheel it and take it all in again. Tracks like these are best served while the lights are down low, the night is still young, and you have nothing but time on your hands…

Simplification - "Memories" / "Without You" - PPRDINTL003
A - Memories - PPRDINTL0003
Coming straight out of Brazil, Simplication brings a different take on the “deep soulful DnB” by adding some heavenly atmospherics to “Memories”. Dropping some warm vibes over the cut, with the strings overtop, brings you into a zone not too far off from the feelings you get watching a sunset on a warm summer night, peering over the beachfront, reminiscing on days past.
B - Without You - PPRDINTL003
Keeping that soul alive, “Without You” is the letter you write to that love that you lost in those memories of days gone by. Realizing that you may have messed up or somehow caused the breakup, “Without You” is the lament on a relationship lost. Many DnB cuts can make you dance, but these two tracks from Simplification make you get those real emotions flowing. Having what so many producers lack (soul) is going to keep this duo around for a while…

dRamatic - "Pressure" / "Moving Close" - PPRDINTL002
A - Pressure - PPRDINTL002
It wasn’t just enough that dRamatic had to come with a catchy intro, all uplifting and piano-drenched. No, we have to then be treated to a twist in how you’d imagine the tune would progress – you’d assume this would just delve into the normal, soft soul, but dRamatic comes correct with a heavier drum and really bright bass, screaming “get on the floor and dance”! Peer pressure, indeed.
B - Moving Close - PPRDINTL002
On “Moving Close”, dRamatic brings things closer to your chest, riding supple keys and a dope Rhodes-sounding groove deep into your soul. Once this thing drops, some infectious vocal stabs keep things both interesting and on edge, as you can’t help but rock to the riddim AND try to catch how the stabs are going to progress! Two nutritious slices of DnB pie, served up fresh and piping hot from the good folks over at Peer Pressure!

dirrrtyB - "Keep My Heart Beating" / "Deep In My Heart" - PPRDINTL001
A - Keep My Heart Beating - PPRDINTL001
If one had to sum up dirrrtyB’s “Keep My Heart Beating” in one word, that word would be “uplifting”. An ascending, fuzzy loop is paired with some airy synths and piano flourishes, meeting up with the perfectly-placed bassline in holy matrimony. This is one of those choice tracks that end up becoming anthems in certain circles, playing that familiar melody that instantly gets crowds groovin’! “Deep In My Heart” finds dirrrtyB creating a deeper cut to sink your teeth into, and actually flip the script.
B - Deep In My Heart - PPRDINTL001
While the former’s melody seems to rise, “Deep In My Heart” has a funky dip to it, playing well with the synths and distant drone of the strings. The drums knock, but don’t sound as sterile and vapid as many DnB producers come with these days, which is totally refreshing, and adds to the mysteries embedded deep within this one. And with this being Peer Pressure’s first foray into international producers, one can only hope that this trend continues.

KellyDean - "Backyard Boogie" / "Choices" - PPRD005
A - Backyard Boogie - PPRD005
With “Backyard Boogie”, KellyDean does not knock politely on the door, waiting for an answer: KellyDean straight kicks the door down, making you understand that NOW is the time. Hyper, old school breaks run rampant, while a disgustingly fat bassline both creates a bed that hovers underneath the beat, but also has a second part that slides itself into the groove at will. Add atop of that varying loops, vocal samples and other effects, and this track goes from the backyard porch jams to outer space at will.
B - Choices - PPRD005
On “Choices”, KellyDean actually takes us on an outer-limits journey, using this track as a sonic ship that takes you on a guided tour throughout deepest, darkest space. Basslines move like shooting stars, synths are cascading meteor showers and the whole tracks funks you out of your seat. Versatile, fresh and captivating, KellyDean does NOT disappoint with this one!

Magnafide - "Immature Heart" / "Strength (vip)" - PPRD004
A - Immature Heart - PPRD004
Magnafide takes you back to when this scene was built on solid, rollin’ vibes alongside interesting choices of sound. “Immature Heart” is drenched in old school breaks, dropping you right in 1996, with random tones and woodwinds helping smooth your trip back. All of the sudden, an instantly catchy bassline melody is dropping, bringing in some bright, flexible funk to your normal drab and dull mixes. Tracks like these are ones to grow on, as they showcase, within a shell you are comfortable with, that interesting music is still to be experienced in this thing of ours.
B - Strength (vip) - PPRD004
For an added bonus, Magnafide brings in some harder, crisp drums to the VIP of “Strength”, still captivating crowds with those superb melodies, but dropping a rugged sheen over top so the vibes will translate for those sets looking for more of an edge while still maintaining an uplifting feel. WMD’s for the dancefloor, and beyond.

Doppler - "Silent Drops" / "Shallow Water" - PPRD003
A - Silent Drops - PPRD003
Back almost a decade ago, there were those tunes that would slowly creep up into the mix, with that effective loop, usually something that was very simple and powerful, that you would instantly commit to memory, so you could bug your peers about who crafted such a gem. Doppler’s “Shallow Water” does just this, drawing the listener in with a sly, eye-wink of a loop, accented by some punchy horns and hard drums. With the evolving horns in this cut, one could almost see a robotic, funked out Drum & Bass band playing this one live on stage.
B - Shallow Water - PPRD003
On the flip, Doppler keeps the flavors fresh with some interesting flute work riding over a cavalcade of sounds that include a sung female vocal, some echoed piano stabs, quick-played strings and a bevy of other found sounds. File under Drum & Bass, and everything but the kitchen sink. And boy does it go down perfectly.

Phrantek - "Aeneid" / "Persona & Shadow" - PPRD002
A - Aeneid - PPRD002
One thing people seem to associate with the techier-side of Drum & Bass is the lack of real emotion; like it’s all just piercing stabs and break-neck beats. This is entirely not so when Phrantek steps into the arena, and “Aeneid” is the perfect example. He takes what you would assume would just be another turbo-charged neuro grime-fest and infuses some hypnotic guitar twinkles, taking the best from both sides (hard, precision cut drums alongside melodies that pluck at your heart-strings) and creates a two-headed monster, just itching to unleash it’s fury on unsuspecting ears.
B - Persona & Shadow - PPRD002
Following this up is the sneak attack that is “Persona & Shadow”; while one definitely can feel the tension and anticipation rising with that chorus of bleeps and blips in the intro, once that bassline drops, you will be begging to have it pulled back so you can relive that again. Drop this alongside any of your favorite jams, and make some magic.

Sinistarr - "Scare Do" / "How We Do" - PPRD001
A - Scare Do - PPRD001
Representing Detroit, Michigan, Sinistarr comes correct for the debut release on Peer Pressure Recordings. “Scare Do” brings the minimal Soul to the mix, dropping some of that Detroit flavor alongside some funky keys and a vocal sample that calls you over, then ducks behind the bass again. This one packs a smooth punch, bringing through some playful, ‘get the party started right’ vibes.
B - How We Do - PPRD001
“How We Do” takes a deeper approach to the same theme, looping some instant-head nod inducing flare, and pairing it alongside some classic call-and-response Hip-Hop chants, dropping into a steady crowd pleaser. It’s amazing how two tracks can tell two different sides of the same story. It’s almost like looking at a movie from another character’s perspective… and the story giving you that warm, stellar feel. Top notch flex.
